Corporate Friends showcase lighting used for Cartier exhibit

In 2022, a unique exhibit of Cartier jewelry and Islamic Art hit the Dallas Museum of Art that needed a specific and special brand of lighting to showcase these rare and iconic pieces. Corporate Friends showcase lighting was the solution found for the exhibit entitled “Cartier and Islamic Art: In Search of Modernity” that sought to explore the influence of Islamic art and architecture on European and American design.

“Islamic art was a formative inspiration for Louis Cartier and the Maison Cartier in the 20th century. The major exhibition explores the analysis and adaption by Cartier’s designers of shapes, techniques, and materials from India, the Middle East, and North Africa. Through the lens of the Maison Cartier, these elements are part of the creative evolution of the modern stylistic language that continues to inspire new designs.” (dma.org)

Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed the scenography for the exhibition, which featured more than 500 pieces including jewelry and objects from Cartier, masterpieces of Islamic art, drawings, books, photographs and archival documents that trace the origins of the jeweler’s interest in Oriental motifs.
